About The Position

Job Summary: Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instrumentation and equipment during surgery and/or procedures performed in the Operating Room. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year in an OR or CS department required or successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist/OR Technologist program preferred.
  • BLS required within 6 months of hire; CST preferred.
  • Knowledge and competency in OR technology and central service.
  • AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
  • Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and other health care providers.
  • Ensure availability of supplies and equipment, process sterile instrumentation and equipment.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as necessary.
  • Utilize sterile technique while setting up and assisting physician.
  • Assist in direct patient care when necessary.
  • Participate in call schedule.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • As assigned.
