Pay: $55000 - $77182 / year (paid hourly) Schedule: M - F; day shift (weekends on call as needed) Location: Austin, TX | Cisco office Position Summary The Operating Engineer supports the efficient operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems across the facility. Working with minimal supervision, this position ensures that all building systems function safely, reliably, and efficiently. The role may also involve assisting the Facility Manager and other engineers within the team to maintain building excellence and occupant satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in building operations, repair, or maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry work.
  • Universal CFC EPA certification or willingness to obtain within the first year (with JLL assistance).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders up to 30 feet.
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks, including bending, kneeling, climbing rooftops, and lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance tasks, including but not limited to painting, lighting repairs (bulbs/ballasts within licensing limits), basic plumbing, HVAC system support, locksmith work, data center and carpentry.
  • Manage and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery.
  • Support the implementation and execution of the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Maintain and update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) daily, completing work orders and tenant service requests as assigned.
  • Assist in the training and development of team members to strengthen overall engineering capabilities.
  • Provide support for on-call or emergency response coverage on a rotating (every other week) schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems, including electrical, DDC, and pneumatic controls.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members and building occupants.
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
