About The Position

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is seeking a full-scope Family Medicine physician (no OB) to join our residency teaching clinic. Provide high-quality primary care, supervise resident clinics, and contribute to an engaging academic environment focused on team-based care and patient outcomes. This role has both inpatient and outpatient teaching and patient care components. The candidate must be licensed in Florida and able to be credentialed as a participate in the MCOM Faculty Practice Plan who is privileged to perform the essential functions of a Family Medicine physician and be a Medical Staff member in good standing in the hospitals or health care organizations where they are assigned to perform clinical and/or teaching duties.

Requirements

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Board of Certification in Family Medicine.
  • Understanding of the academic medicine and faculty participation in the education mission of health professions.
  • Current, or eligible, for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical: This position is comprised of a mixture between traditional Family Medicine clinical time as well as participation as a provider in our Executive Health Program. Clinical days and times will vary, however, the majority of the clinical duties will be providing primary care services within the Department of Family Medicine.
  • Teaching: Completions of teaching duties including but not limited to precepting students in clinic, teaching a doctoring course, participating as a SELECT coach.
  • Research: Become involved as possible with different research projects already existing within the Family Medicine Department and further the research footprint for Family Medicine at USF MCOM.
  • Administrative: Including but not limited to clinical administrative duties, faculty administrative needs, publication administration, etc.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
  • Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department.
