About The Position

The Department of Biomedical Sciences of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position at the assistant /associate professor level in the area of immunology and related disciplines. This position will entail teaching immunology to first- and second-year medical students in an integrated curriculum. Teaching formats at CMSRU include lectures, small-group active learning sessions, and practical application sessions. Additional academic responsibilities will include advising and mentoring students in the development of scholarly projects; assessing, reviewing, and evaluating student educational activities and progress; and serving on university-wide, medical school, and/or departmental committees. The candidate will complement current areas of faculty expertise and be expected to develop and maintain an externally funded, sustainable program for independent research in the candidate's area of interest. A start-up package and competitive salary are offered. The Department of Biomedical Sciences at CMSRU is committed to fostering excellence in teaching and multidisciplinary research. The department currently consists of 30 faculty members. Areas of faculty expertise include microbiology, immunology, cancer biology, molecular and cell biology, genetics/genomics, neurobiology, and physiology. Our goal is to advance learning and knowledge through multidisciplinary scholarship and delivery of the basic science curriculum for medical, graduate, and undergraduate students. CMSRU is the only four-year M.D. degree-granting medical school in southern New Jersey. Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in immunology, microbiology, or related life sciences discipline from an accredited institution
  • Post-doctoral experience
  • Record of scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications commensurate with career stage
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.
