About The Position

The Department of Kinesiology at Methodist University invites applications for an Open Rank Tenure-Track Faculty position to begin Fall 2026. The selected candidate should be able to teach a broad range of undergraduate Kinesiology courses in a traditional (on campus) classroom setting and for the MU Online degree in Exercise and Sport Science. Potential courses to be taught include, but are not limited to, Exercise Physiology, Research, Fitness and Wellness, Nutrition, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, and Exercise Testing and Prescription. Priority will be given to applicants with a history of online course development and delivery and those with certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Methodist University is a private comprehensive institution grounded in the tradition of liberal arts. The Department of Kinesiology is one of seven departments housed within the College of Health Sciences and Human Services (CHSHS) which is focused on providing a collaborative and interprofessional learning environment for undergraduate and graduate students. The mission of the Department of Kinesiology is to create quality educational experiences that prepare students for employment or graduate programs in health, wellness, and physical activity related fields by utilizing student-centered teaching approaches, engaging students in perspective fields of research, and providing opportunities in and out of the classroom that develop interpersonal skills needed to effectively navigate a diverse world. Requirements

  • A master's degree in Kinesiology or closely related field (including but not limited to Exercise and Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, or Rehabilitation Sciences)

Nice To Haves

  • A doctoral degree in Kinesiology or closely related field
  • Experience in online course development and delivery
  • Certifications in ACSM or NSCA

Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester (typically a 4/4 load)
  • Online and traditional classroom teaching and course development
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other campus activities
  • Provide impactful service to the department, university, and greater community
  • Engage in scholarly activities to enrich the university and empower students
  • Provide student mentorship and guidance for internships and career development
