Open Rank Tenure Line Faculty in Communication Disorders Required Qualifications Required for rank of Assistant Professor: Terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D) in Communication Disorders or a closely related field. ASHA certification ( CCC - SLP ) and eligibility for clinical licensure in Texas. Strong potential or record of scholarly products (peer-reviewed publications, presentations, etc.). Strong potential or history of extramural funding. The requirement for CCC‑SLP and/or state licensure may be waived in exceptional cases, upon approval by the Department Chair with concurrences through the Dean, Vice Provost for Faculty Success, and Vice President of Research when a candidate demonstrates: A strong, documented track record of extramural funding (external grants and contracts). R esearch productivity and impact commensurate with R1 expectations. Required for the rank of associate professor, in addition to those required above: A demonstrated record of teaching excellence A strong record of peer-reviewed publications as first author/lead investigator A strong record of extramural funding (as PI or co-PI) to support research and other scholarly activity Minimum of six years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member Required for the rank of professor, in addition to those required above: Minimum of 12 years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member Established a national reputation among peers and demonstrated leadership through service to the university, community, and professional organizations.
