About The Position

The Department of Neuroscience and the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invite applications for a tenure-track faculty member at any rank in the research area of neuro-oncology. This search is part of a multi-year strategic plan to expand neuroscience and cancer research at MUSC. We are particularly interested in applicants that employ cutting-edge technologies and approaches to understand, detect, or treat cancers of the nervous system, including glioblastoma, as well as investigations that examine neurological problems associated with cancer and cancer risk, such as smoking. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with appropriate research expertise and are expected to possess an outstanding record of high-quality publications, a strong potential to secure extramural research funding, and a clear commitment to collaboration in a welcoming community. Successful candidates will benefit from a competitive start-up package and be associated with a Neuroscience Department that consistently ranks in the top 15 in NIH awards and that has a strong commitment to faculty mentoring and collegiality. HCC is an NCI-designated cancer center with more than 140 research investigators focusing on topics such as immunotherapies, cancer biology, cancer prevention, detection, and control, and development of cancer therapeutics. HCC also represents a selected list of national cancer centers with its own CAR-T cell therapy program. The Department of Neuroscience and HCC enjoy multiple NIH T32 training grants and an outstanding research community with access to numerous shared core resources. MUSC is located in the coastal city of Charleston, SC – a city known for its arts and culture, higher education, architecture, beautiful beaches, top-rated restaurants, and wonderful people. Charleston receives perennial honors as a most desirable place to visit and live. Interested applicants should submit a CV, a 3-page statement of research interests, a 1-page personal statement, and contact information for three professional references to Kristen Mulholland ([email protected]).
