About The Position

The Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions is one of seven academic Departments, located in the School of Health Professions. The Department offers a full career ladder of graduate and undergraduate degrees, including an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track, and a Ph.D. in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Counselor Education & Supervision Track. The Department also houses a number of extramural professional education, technical assistance and research projects. The successful candidate will support the preparation of students who will become mental health practitioners. In addition, the candidate will contribute to curricula development and delivery for externally funded professional education projects, including the Academy of Peer Services, funded by the NY Office of Mental Health, which provides training for certified psychiatric rehabilitation peer specialists, as well as other projects that prepare individuals with the lived experience of mental illness to contribute to the delivery of mental health services. This co-terminous position is fully grant funded. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate psychiatric rehabilitation and rehabilitation counseling students
  • Develop curricula materials for on-campus and web-based courses
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate educational training programs for mental health practitioners that provide psychiatric rehabilitation interventions, including peer support specialists
  • Work with instructional designers to develop asynchronous web-based modules
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on developing and implementing funding proposals related to the Department’s educational and research agenda
  • Pursue a scholarly agenda, contributing to presentations and publications
  • Participate in professional association, community service and university service activities
  • Understand and adhere to legacy UMDNJ’s compliance standards as they appear in legacy UMDNJ’s Corporate Compliance Policy and Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and legacy UMDNJ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
