About The Position

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT). This position will have a primary appointment in the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center (IIRC) of Fred Hutch and a joint appointment in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine at the UW. The specific rank at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The IIRC is a multi-disciplinary center that brings together 83 faculty members in basic, translational, and clinical research to advance immunotherapy for disease, encompassing clinical programs for cell and gene therapies and first-in-human immunotherapeutics. Fred Hutch is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases, and is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. Faculty at both institutions engage in teaching, research, and service, with primary activities expected on-site. The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in cancer immunology and be engaged in laboratory-based research that could enable next generation therapies, such as cellular therapies, immune checkpoints, tumor microenvironment, and non-viral gene editing. The selected individual will foster an environment of collaboration and productivity in cancer immunotherapy.

Requirements

  • MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology (or foreign equivalent)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington
  • Record of and primary interest in cancer immunology
  • Engaged in laboratory-based research that could enable next generation therapies

  • Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications in the cancer immunology field
  • Success in obtaining extramural funding

Responsibilities

  • Engage in teaching, research, and service
  • Oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations
  • Delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community
  • Perform primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch and UW
  • Engage in laboratory-based research that could enable next generation therapies
  • Foster an environment of collaboration and productivity in cancer immunotherapy
