The Onsite Safety Technician / Safety Specialist supports Durr Heavy Construction’s industrial and utility construction projects and is predominantly site-based at client substation facilities in Lockport, Louisiana. This role is responsible for monitoring, enforcing, and continuously improving jobsite safety performance by conducting audits, attending site meetings, collaborating with jobsite leadership, and ensuring compliance with contractors, client, and regulatory safety requirements. The primary responsibility of this position is to actively mitigate operational, safety, and environmental risks while promoting a proactive, positive safety culture aligned with Durr’s core values. Requirements

  • Prior experience in a role where safety was a primary responsibility is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, professionalism, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • High emotional intelligence with a selfless, team-first mindset.
  • High School Diploma required; some college preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in landfill construction, waste disposal, or solid waste management.
  • 2 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in construction safety or occupational safety & health preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
