About The Position

Arcwood Environmental has over 50 years of experience helping organizations manage waste responsibly, protecting people, communities, and the environment. The Onsite Chemist role is responsible for sorting and preparing hazardous and nonhazardous materials for shipment directly from the customer's site. This involves ensuring material compatibility and strictly adhering to all safety processes for each job and lab packing service. The position requires collecting materials, transporting them to waste collection areas, following proper placarding and load segregation, maintaining communication with customers, managing waste logbooks, ensuring good housekeeping in storage areas, and providing guidance to Field Technicians/Drivers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree within a science-related discipline
2+ years of experience in lab packing or an environmental waste role

Responsibilities

Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
Segregates and characterizes chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials into appropriate containers to prepare them for transport; completes required documentation per job, conducting facility inspections as needed
Collects hazardous and nonhazardous materials from various onsite locations and transports via pushcart or Company van to waste collection areas
Follows proper placarding and load segregation requirements when loading hazardous materials
Effectively communicates important information to customer and maintains a productive and positive relationship with key customer contacts
Maintains a logbook of waste stored within the waste storage area at customer site
Maintains good housekeeping in storage areas and advises relevant parties when additional supplies are needed
Provides direction to Field Technicians/Drivers while onsite assisting with waste collection
Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
