Requirements
Master’s degree in library science or in library and information science; OR
Master’s degree in library and information studies (approved comparable degree major at MiraCosta College); OR
the equivalent.
Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND
demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
Nice To Haves
Experience providing successful equity-centered library services and instruction to disproportionately impacted college or university students.
Demonstrated leadership in designing, implementing, and assessing online learning materials (e.g. learning objects, videos, guides, modules) for information literacy instruction.
Current experience providing academic reference services and instruction in the use of print and online resources.
Successful experience teaching information literacy, including credit courses, orientations, and workshops.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify library services and instruction practices to more effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with a goal of closing equity gaps (see Student Equity Plan ).
Ability to contribute to the mission of the college.
