Requirements
- Master’s degree in library science or in library and information science; OR
- Master’s degree in library and information studies (approved comparable degree major at MiraCosta College); OR
- the equivalent.
- Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application. - a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND
- demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
Nice To Haves
- Experience providing successful equity-centered library services and instruction to disproportionately impacted college or university students.
- Demonstrated leadership in designing, implementing, and assessing online learning materials (e.g. learning objects, videos, guides, modules) for information literacy instruction.
- Current experience providing academic reference services and instruction in the use of print and online resources.
- Successful experience teaching information literacy, including credit courses, orientations, and workshops.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
- Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify library services and instruction practices to more effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with a goal of closing equity gaps (see Student Equity Plan ).
- Ability to contribute to the mission of the college.
