About The Position

We are seeking Adjunct Dissertation Mentors for the Practical Theology Ph.D. program to guide students through the dissertation research and writing phases, ensuring the production of high-quality, original scholarship that aligns with the university's academic standards. Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that ‎‎‎‎‎‎an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage ‎‎‎‎‎‎in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed ‎‎‎‎‎‎Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a ‎‎‎‎means to a significant educational ‎‎end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the ‎‎‎‎development of good learning ‎‎conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is ‎‎‎‎possible, provide for individual ‎‎differences, abilities, and interests.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a conferred terminal degree (Ph.D. or Th.D.) in one of the following areas: Theology Practical Theology Biblical Theology Systematic Theology Practical Theology Theological Studies Philosophy Ethics World Religion(s) Religion Religious Studies Christian Studies Christian Thought Cultural Engagement Public Theology Applied Apologetics Apologetics Historical Theology
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills
  • Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Canvas
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated strengths in teaching & mentoring at the college level
