About The Position

The One-on-One Assistant is assigned to provide support for a child who requires assistance throughout the day. The One-on-One assistant is a non-certificated staff member who assists students under the direction of the classroom teachers and/or certified staff to promote the student’s academic achievement, behavioral growth, socio-emotional relationships, and personal development. The One-on-One Assistant must adapt to the particular educational/therapeutic needs of the student(s).

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certification, as well as the physical and mental capacity to perform the major responsibilities of the job assignment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Able to communicate effectively with students and staff
• Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
• Must be NJ resident within one year from date of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide support for a child who requires assistance throughout the day.
• Assist students under the direction of the classroom teachers and/or certified staff.
• Promote the student’s academic achievement, behavioral growth, socio-emotional relationships, and personal development.
• Adapt to the particular educational/therapeutic needs of the student(s).
