About The Position

CCAR Industries is searching for a part-time one-on-one direct support person to work at our Community Day Services Program. The One-on-One Direct Support Personnel (DSP) will provide support and encouragement to one male program participant. The staff person will support the individual while he engages in the activities of his choice throughout the day. In addition, the staff person will work as part of the individual's planning team to assure that his personal objectives and needs are met and that he is happy and healthy. Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities as a DSP is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a minimum of a GED or high school diploma
  • Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
  • Must be able to pass CPR/1st Aid and maintain certification
  • Successfully complete 120 hours of paid direct support training

Responsibilities

  • Support the individual with self-advocacy and making informed choices
  • Provide emotional support to the individual served
  • Prepare food items according to dietary needs and preferences, as needed
  • Transport the individual or others in the program using agency-owned vehicles, as needed
  • Provide and document services and supports as identified on the individual’s Implementation Strategy and as guided by the individual’s desires
  • Treat the individuals served, co-workers, guardians, and all others in the workplace in a professional manner that reflects the agency’s Code of Conduct
  • Clock in and out for all shifts and enter requested time off using the online system
  • Show up on time and as scheduled for all assigned shifts
  • Complete all required in-service material reviews
