Oncology Veterinary Technician
About The Position
VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is expanding our Medical Oncology Team and seeking a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician! Schedule: Weekday, full-time opportunity. 4 x10 hour shifts, Monday - Thursday. Compensation: $ 24 - $ 30 / hr. Starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field Position Overview: We are seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Medical Oncology team. This is a great opportunity for a technician who is passionate about specialty medicine, wants to make a difference in the lives of pets and their families facing cancer diagnoses, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Proficient in placing IVCs and monitoring anesthesia
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in emotional or urgent situations
Responsibilities
- Assisting with chemotherapy administration and safety protocols
- Handling oncology patient intakes, treatments, and follow-up appointments
- Providing compassionate support and clear communication to pet parents
- Collaborating with the Oncology team and other departments
- Obtaining and preparing lab samples (blood, urine, cytology, etc.)
- Performing radiographs and monitoring imaging procedures
- Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment logs
