About The Position

The Onboarding & Engagement Specialist is responsible for creating a seamless, positive, and consistent new‑hire experience while strengthening organizational culture and employee engagement. This role ensures all new employees are effectively integrated into the organization through structured onboarding, training coordination, and ongoing check‑ins. In addition, the Specialist leads wellness and engagement initiatives, supports culture‑building efforts, and plans key employee events that foster connection and belonging across the credit union.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive onboarding for all new hires, including orientation, culture, IT setup, and member service training.
  • Serve as the steward of the “SkyPoint Way,” ensuring consistent experience across departments.
  • Act as the liaison with department leaders to manage training checklists/expectations, deadlines, and completion tracking.
  • Provide regular updates on training progress and employee status.
  • Conduct new‑hire check‑ins and facilitate stay interviews to support early engagement and retention.
  • Oversee training compliance, including new‑hire BAI requirements and organization‑wide annual compliance.
  • Deliver training for frontline staff as appropriate.
  • Support organizational engagement initiatives and serve as a Montgomery County wellness champion for the credit union.
  • Lead the wellness committee and implement wellbeing initiatives.
  • Plan and schedule wellbeing events, quarterly after‑hours gatherings.
  • Partnering with HR Director to plan and execute major annual events such as the county picnic and holiday party.

  • Holidays: Eleven (11) paid per year
  • Leave: You will earn Paid Time Off and Personal, Sick and disability leave. Annual leave is accrued at 4.6 hours per pay period (15 days per year). Two personal days are earned per year. Sick leave is accrued at 4.62 hours per pay period with a maximum accrual per year of 120 hours.
  • Insurances: Employees are offered medical, prescription, dental, vision and disability insurance. The credit union pays a portion of the monthly premium, and the employee pays a portion. Available providers and costs will be discussed during orientation. All insurance except disability is effective the first of the month following date of hire.
  • Life Insurance: All full-time employees are required to have Group Term Life (GTL) insurance equal to 1x’s their basic annual earnings, up to $200,000. Active employees over age 65, their coverage is reduced to 65% of the pre-65 face value. This policy is County paid 80%, and employee paid 20%. Additional coverage can be purchased. Information will be available during orientation.
  • 401(a)/Deferred Compensation: You will be eligible to participate in the SkyPoint FCU Retirement 401A plan after 6 months of employment. Information about retirement options will be presented during orientation.
