About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the individual designated on the agency Organizational Chart, the SLE Monitor has the responsibility of working closely with residents who are progressing toward independent living while maintaining their sobriety. The SLE Monitor provides the daily support needed for each resident to maintain their sobriety and the oversight of the facility. These supports will include emotional support, demonstrating and teaching living skills, conducting house meetings, making sure each resident is in by the curfew time, UA testing, creating a house chores list and delegating chores, and ordering housing supplies and groceries.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with individuals who have a Co-Occurring diagnosis.
  • Must have knowledge of 12-Step Programs and/or personal experience with substance abuse recovery.
  • If in recovery must have 8 months to 1 year of sobriety.
  • Must have High School diploma or GED.
  • Provide own vehicle, possess a valid California Driver’s License and current vehicle insurance. Driving record must meet and continue to meet the generalized driving guidelines used by our insurance broker.
  • Must have at least 3 years of driving experience.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certificates within the first six (6) months of employment.
  • Must attend Pro-Act training through the agency and obtain Pro-Act Certification within the first year of employment.
  • Ability to pass clearance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and/or Department of Justice (DOJ) background screenings.
  • Work overtime as requested and approved.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience is highly desirable.
  • Lived experience as a mental health consumer or a family member/loved one of a mental health consumer is desirable.
  • Mental health crisis intervention experience is highly desirable.
  • Having work experience with persons who have substance abuse problems, preferably individuals who are dually diagnosed (mental health & substance abuse) highly desirable
  • Mental health crisis intervention experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with active listening, demonstration of empathy and carry a message of hope and recovery.
  • Observe, assess, intervene and refer (within one’s scope of practice) in situations with clients regarding mental health symptoms, physical health symptoms and substance use issues.
  • Make sure each resident is in by designated curfew time
  • Conduct UA testing and breathalyzing when a resident shows signs of intoxication
  • Provide positive public relations, community referrals, information and support by linking clients to needed resources.
  • Accurately complete all necessary forms, reports and paperwork required by the program on a timely basis (e.g., client intake paperwork, special incident reports, discharge summaries, billing tracking sheet)
  • Complete intakes and ROIs in a timely fashion
  • Facilitate planning, preparation and implementation of house meetings to discuss house concerns and updates
  • Make weekly house chores list and assign client tasks.
  • Shop for food and household supplies to meet program or client needs.
  • Ensure the office, house, rooms, units and yard are clean and fit for occupancy, where applicable. Provide and assist with cleaning as needed
  • Act as a designated Mandated Reporter for the observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults and elder/senior citizens. Mandated Reporter also includes “Duty to Warn” which includes the responsibility to notify authorities and the intended victim(s) of physical harm.
  • Ensure the protection and confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI) by following all policies and procedures in the Agency HIPAA Manual.
