JOB OVERVIEW The Director, Pureplay eCommerce is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of our Amazon business, Social Commerce platforms, and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) initiatives. This role oversees strategy, P&L management, team leadership, and the development of capabilities that drive shopper engagement, conversion, and innovation. They will play a critical role in winning with digital-first shoppers, accelerating eCommerce growth, and driving total Omni business performance. KEY RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Sr. Director e-Commerce & Omni Marketing Two direct reports to support Amazon account management Peer relationships include omni marketing, sales leadership, brand/innovation, RGM, supply chain, integrated business intelligence, and advanced marketing capabilities Key internal contacts listed above; External contacts include customer partners, vendors, and marketing/creative agency partners This is a Remote role based in Chicago, IL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, management, or a related discipline is required. Master’s degree (MBA or relevant field) is preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in eCommerce, digital sales, and/or direct-to-consumer channels, with a proven track record of driving business growth and innovation.
  • Extensive account management experience with Amazon (Vendor Central, Seller Central, and Amazon Ads platforms), ideally spanning both Amazon.com and Amazon Fresh.
  • Experience owning or scaling DTC platforms (e.g., Shopify or equivalent enterprise commerce platforms) including site merchandising, promotions, and customer journey optimization
  • Familiarity with payments, checkout optimization, OMS integrations, and fulfillment models supporting DTC growth
  • Proven ability to lead test‑and‑scale innovation with ambiguous or evolving platforms
  • Demonstrated experience monetizing short‑form social platforms (TikTok Shop, Instagram Checkout, or similar) including product feeds, creator storefronts, and affiliate programs
  • Experience with creator‑led selling or using performance‑based influencer commerce models to expand brand reach and engagement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex cross-functional teams, launching new products/features, and collaborating with analytics, IT, supply chain, and brand teams.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging data analytics and shopper insights to inform strategic decisions and optimize performance.
  • Strong background in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) or similar fast-paced, highly competitive categories is highly valued.
  • Strong interpersonal and fact-based selling/negotiation capabilities.
  • High level of organizational and project management skills; ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver results under tight timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Growth mindset, adaptability, and a passion for innovation in the eCommerce space.

  • Lead end-to-end management of the Amazon business, including full P&L responsibility, business/assortment strategy, budget, and direct reports.
  • Develop and execute strategies for Social Commerce platforms, such as TikTok Shop, to engage shoppers and drive conversion.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) opportunities to expand reach and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Set vision, strategy, and budgeting for Pureplay eCommerce and DTC channels, aligning with broader company goals.
  • Lead end-to-end management of the Amazon business, including full P&L responsibility, business/assortment strategy, budget, and direct reports.

  • Partner with Advanced Marketing Capabilities team on the integration of Amazon marketing tactics into broader national media objectives and priorities
  • Lead teams responsible for execution, ensuring operational excellence and achievement of business objectives.
  • Drive innovation by launching new products and features tailored to eCommerce and DTC channels.
  • Leverage data analytics and shopper insights to inform strategy, optimize performance, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Develop capabilities to collaborate with creators and influencers, enhancing brand engagement and expanding audience reach.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, assess emerging trends, and proactively adjust strategies to maintain market leadership.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and report results to senior leadership.
