About The Position

As Director, Global Communications – Omni Wellness, you will shape how Walmart tells its omni wellness story, positioning the company as a trusted, one-stop wellness destination. You’ll lead integrated communications strategies that strengthen Walmart’s reputation as a trusted, accessible and affordable healthcare partner, connecting pharmacy services, digital health tools and wellness products into a clear, cohesive narrative. You will ensure customers understand not only the breadth of Walmart’s health solutions, but how they work together to support prevention, treatment and long-term well-being. You will play a critical role in elevating the trusted role of pharmacists in communities, strengthening awareness of Walmart’s expanding digital health ecosystem, and reinforcing the company’s commitment to affordability, access and responsible innovation. About the Team The Health & Wellness Communications team advances Walmart’s mission of helping people live better by telling a unified story of care — across pharmacy, wellness products, digital health tools and community initiatives. We translate complex health offerings into simple, trusted solutions that empower customers to make informed choices. We partner across Corporate Affairs, Marketing, Merchandising, Clinical and Digital teams to deliver a consistent drumbeat of storytelling that builds trust and reinforces Walmart’s leadership in accessible, affordable wellness.

Requirements

  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, healthcare communications or consumer brand communications.
  • Proven success in media relations, including securing top-tier coverage in both business and consumer outlets.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills across multiple formats and platforms, with the ability to translate complex healthcare offerings into clear customer value propositions.
  • Strong understanding of evolving consumer health trends and the intersection of retail, digital innovation and healthcare access.
  • Digital fluency, with experience using AI, emerging platforms and analytics tools to extend reach and engagement.
  • Strong crisis communications capability, with composure and clarity under pressure.
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset; thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Executive presence with the ability to advise senior leaders and represent Walmart with credibility.
  • A curious, forward-thinking approach to elevating storytelling, strengthening brand trust and deepening customer connection.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field and 5 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications & Planning Develop and execute proactive, consumer-first communications strategies aligned with Walmart’s Health & Wellness priorities and enterprise reputation goals. Position Walmart as a trusted, one-stop wellness destination by connecting pharmacy, OTC, digital health tools and broader wellness solutions into an integrated external narrative. Partner with leadership to strengthen awareness of Walmart’s health ecosystem, including pharmacy services, preventive care and emerging wellness innovations. Identify emerging health, wellness and consumer behavior trends, translating insights into compelling storytelling and engagement opportunities. Develop messaging frameworks that drive awareness, consideration and trust in Walmart’s Health & Wellness services across earned, owned and social channels.
  • Storytelling & Content Development Lead integrated storytelling that highlights Walmart associates, clinical experts, customer experiences, innovations and measurable community impact. Elevate the role of pharmacists as accessible, trusted healthcare advisors serving communities across the country. Create clear, compelling narratives, press releases, executive remarks, blogs and social content that connect services and products into a seamless wellness journey. Ensure major wellness initiatives, digital innovations and product launches are communicated as part of a connected ecosystem, helping customers see how care and solutions work together. Build thought leadership platforms for executives and clinical leaders that reinforce Walmart’s leadership in affordable, accessible and responsible healthcare innovation.
  • Media Relations & External Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors and influencers across health, retail, business and national consumer media. Proactively pitch stories that showcase Walmart’s scale, innovation and community reach in pharmacy and wellness. Prepare executives and clinical leaders for media interviews, panels and industry events with messaging that balances enterprise priorities and customer relevance. Support visibility for new wellness initiatives and innovations that reinforce Walmart’s destination role in health.
  • Consumer Engagement & Brand Trust Ensure health and wellness communications reinforce Walmart’s customer brand promise of everyday low prices, accessibility and convenience. Strengthen awareness of Walmart pharmacies as comprehensive care destinations extending beyond prescriptions to preventive care, wellness guidance and everyday health solutions. Partner closely with Marketing and Digital teams to align earned storytelling with customer-facing campaigns and in-store/online experiences. Monitor consumer sentiment, healthcare access trends and trust indicators to inform proactive messaging and reputation management strategies. Identify opportunities to educate and empower customers through earned and owned channels, strengthening long-term trust in Walmart’s healthcare offerings.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate across Corporate Affairs (including Government Relations, ESG, Merchandising, and Benefits), Marketing, Health & Wellness business leaders, and external partners to align and amplify messaging. Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders, providing communications counsel that balances business priorities, regulatory considerations and customer impact. Support partnership and supplier engagement efforts by helping elevate innovation and wellness initiatives through integrated storytelling.
  • Crisis & Issues Management Develop and execute communications strategies for health-related issues, including public health events, reputational risks, and regulatory matters. Monitor the external landscape and consumer sentiment, advising leadership on proactive reputation protection and trust-building measures.
  • Measurement & Optimization Use data, analytics, and audience insights to evaluate campaign performance, media impact and shifts in consumer perception. Report regularly to senior leadership on communications outcomes and measurable impact on reputation and customer trust in Health & Wellness.
