About The Position

NaphCare is hiring an Ombudsman to join their team of medical professionals in the Alabama Department of Corrections - William E. Donaldson in Bessemer, Alabama. This role involves working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Strong healthcare knowledge or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting
• Proven ability to conduct interviews, write reports, and resolve issues effectively
• Current CPR Certification required
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational, planning, and administrative abilities
• Ability to prioritize and perform well under pressure, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in customer/client relations is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Investigate grievances submitted by inmates through the Administrative Remedy Process (ARP), ensuring each complaint is addressed appropriately.
• Maintain thorough logs of all incoming grievances and responses, ensuring compliance with protocols and timelines.
• Ensure proper documentation is attached to all grievances, with responses directed to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Handle phone and email complaints from inmate families, forwarding them to the medical management team as necessary.
• Generate and submit detailed monthly reports on grievances, ensuring that all complaints are logged and resolved promptly.
