About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Dentist to join their team of medical professionals in the Kilby Facility in Mt. Meigs, AL. This Correctional Dentist role involves working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to incarcerated individuals. It is a unique position within a controlled environment where security is a top priority, offering a variety of duties and the opportunity to make a difference to a diverse patient population with complex medical and dental needs.

Requirements

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent
• Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located
• Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
• Current DEA registration
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Nice To Haves

• Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings preferred

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients
• Creating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient dental records
• Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ oral health needs
