This position is for an OHSE Manager at Amcor Specialty Cartons in Virginia, United States. Under the broad supervision of the Plant General Manager, the OHSE Manager performs various duties requiring broad and comprehensive experience, skill, and knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, policies, and procedures. The role involves ensuring compliance with governmental agencies like OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as well as Amcor’s internal policies. The manager will provide technical expertise in health, safety, and environment, coordinate emergency preparedness, maintain documentation, conduct training, and drive continuous improvement in OHSE performance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED)
  • Minimum experience of five years in an OHSE environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with particular ability to work several projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with ISO-14001:2015, ISO-45001:2018, and ISO-9001:2015 a plus

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a high level of OHSE awareness.
  • Provides technical expertise in health, safety and the environment in support of the site.
  • Ensures compliance with governmental agencies to include OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and Amcor’s internal policies and procedures.
  • Completes timely reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates and monitors the Emergency Preparedness Response (EPR) to ensure safe and effective evaluation and medical attention to minimize financial and human resources losses.
  • Maintains all related OHSE documentation.
  • Coordinates testing of noise levels and air quality.
  • May also be responsible for hazardous waste proper documentation (including completing manifests and weekly inspections), providing hazardous waste training, proper handling and transporting of hazardous waste, and/or acting as an emergency coordinator in the event of an emergency involving hazardous waste.
  • Performs OHSE training, incident investigations and audits as required.
  • Arranges training and outside consultants to perform training, i.e. Lock-out/tag-out, waste (RCRA), HazCom, and other OHSE related training as required.
  • Supports OHSE culture by communicating key issues to management team, guiding OHSE Team(s) and managing Site OHSE communications.
  • Coordinates hearing tests to employees as required.
  • Provides technical expertise and support for incident investigations, fire reports, etc. and maintains documentation.
  • Responsible for completing and updating OSHA and Amcor incident reporting.
  • Responsible for worker’s compensation claim management and documentation.
  • Drives continuous improvement in OHSE policies, procedures and performance.
  • Maintains and issues prescription eyewear and safety shoe vouchers.
  • Maintains all OHSE Boards and related documents.
  • Order and control PPE.
  • Enters data from forms, records, reports, and/or other sources into computer for purposes such as maintaining databases and document controls.
  • Uses computer software (databases, work processing spreadsheets, graphics) as a tool for performing clerical assignments.
  • Responsible for site Hazard Communication, including maintenance of SDS System.
  • Enter data according to prescribed format and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Conducts all work in accordance with our established policies and procedures in the area of the Integrated Management System.
  • Responsible for Amcor and external local, state and federal governing agencies as well as ISO certification, to include coordination of audits, visits, inspections, etc.
  • Any and all other tasks and projects as requested by management.
