General Summary: The Offset Management Coordinator (OMC) is accountable for providing offset expertise from eligibility through award for PSS, FSS, SSR, Pension and certain PERS/STRS offsets. Incumbents are responsible for providing effective and efficient financial management practices while demonstrating strong customer service, productivity and documentation skills. This role requires solid understanding of offsets. Individuals in this role have responsibility for understanding the current situation with the claims as well as the activities for which they are responsible. This will be done through file reviews, ongoing claimant contact and the review of financial information to confirm offset applicability as outlined in the LTD policy. The OMC will utilize financial, legal and other resources to support the establishment of financial/offset direction as needed.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and decision making skills

  • Basic understanding of LTD contract provisions

Responsibilities

  • Provide a thorough, fair, objective and timely evaluation of all assigned claims by applying relevant policies, practices and processes to ensure consistent, high quality compliance with our contracts while applying critical thinking and sound decision-making.
  • Accurately review and code all social security and non-social security statuses in Navilink in a timely fashion.
  • Effective, timely and accurate management of offsets within claim, including appropriate information requests, accurate claim file documentation and payment system coding. This includes responding to all inquiries on a timely basis.
  • Explain offset rationale and current claim activities clearly, accurately and thoroughly; both verbally and in writing, to claimants, employers and other constituents.
  • Makes referrals on a timely basis to Financial Recovery Unit, Financial Consulting Team, Legal, Offset Consultant, Tax Reporting Group and others as appropriate.
  • Conducts timely and efficient proactive offset reviews as directed.
  • Accountable for maintaining familiarity with specialized workflow requirements and performance standards for any assigned customers.
  • Develops and maintains a good rapport with insured’s, policyholders and all internal and external partners.
  • Participate as an effective team member – identifying best practices, assisting with team and department coverage
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
