About The Position

The CalSTRS Retirement Readiness Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Office Technician (Typing) on the Scheduling & Estimates Team. The Retirement Readiness (RR) Division is the principal area of the organization that develops, delivers, and coordinates educational services to CalSTRS members, employers, and staff. The goal of RR is to ensure that all members receive adequate, timely, and accurate information in order to make sound decisions regarding their CalSTRS benefits. Under the general supervision of the Scheduling and Estimates, Pension Program Manager I, the Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for performing advanced journey level duties required to support benefits planning services. The incumbent will work collaboratively with others and demonstrate ability to learn, acquire, and apply knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies to provide the highest level of member service. The incumbent must exercise a high degree of discretion, diplomacy, confidentiality, and initiative, taking action to resolve issues as they arise and assist with day-to-day program operations and technical support.

Requirements

  • Ability to listen effectively and provide excellent customer service
  • Dependable, maintain excellent attendance, and possess strong work habits
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications
  • You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired
  • This position requires a current Office Technician (Typing) Exam
  • This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed of 40 words per minute as designated on the Class Specifications. You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to taking the examination
