About The Position

BWC’s core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC’s seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Requirements

  • 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in using personal computer & related business office software
  • 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures
  • 6 mos. exp. as Office Professional 1, 12141 (alternative qualification)
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division & reading common English vocabulary
  • Valid driver's license if position requires operation of vehicle to pick up or deliver mail
  • Knowledge of: BWC policies & procedures
  • Knowledge of: Division & departmental policies & standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of: BWC forms
  • Knowledge of: office practices & procedures
  • Knowledge of: public relations
  • Knowledge of: customer service principles
  • Knowledge of: BWC document retention schedules & Naming Policy guidelines
  • Skill in: Personal Computer
  • Skill in: software (e.g. Outlook E-Mail, Right-Fax, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Access)

  • Ability to: forward materials to customers via US Mail, Express Mail, UPS, fax, & E-Mail
  • Ability to: identify customer needs when customer is unsure & follow up accordingly

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical tasks in support of policy processing teams, claims and Mailroom department
  • Prepares employer and claims documents for imaging
  • Operates State-owned vehicles (e.g., vans, passenger vehicles, and 26' box truck) in order to pick-up and deliver mail and packages to parties on and off-site
  • Utilizes material handling equipment (e.g., dollies, flatbed carts)
  • Retrieves mail from other State buildings and handles paperwork associated with completing deliveries
  • Processes incoming and outgoing policy and claims mail
  • Uses computer to verify policy coverage status of employer in order to locate policy files
  • Receives, inspects and records new material, supplies and equipment for distribution throughout the agency
  • Places asset tags on received items according to rules, policies and procedures
  • Requires travel and ability to legally operate a state-owned vehicle
