About The Position

SWBC is seeking a talented individual to manage the daily functions in the Ad Valorem division which include data management in the Voce software system, and receiving and processing notices from the county Appraisal District and Tax Offices. This individual files and tracks property value protests with the county Appraisal Districts, and provides and monitors customer service in person, via telephone, and email. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in processing, researching, and tracking property tax appeals, or related experience.
  • Strong orientation to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in processing appraisal project information and detecting discrepancies.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong research capabilities and follow-up skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of property tax appraisal/valuation project processes and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer and accurate keyboard skills in utilizing computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Proficient knowledge in MS SQL Server Management Studio
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment such as phone system, copier, scanner, and the like.
  • Be a Commissioned Notary Public for the State of Texas.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.

Responsibilities

  • Manages administrative staff which includes approving weekly timesheets, coordinating time off and sick leave requests, and conducting annual performance and goals evaluations
  • Develops and maintains special statistical reports to include charts, graphs, and queries as needed for internal and external analysis and reporting.
  • Prepares and files all protest letters with appraisal districts to ensure all protest deadlines are met by the required timeframe
  • Assists the VP of Operations with various operational functions such as approvals of business processes and addition of new clients and properties; manages office supply purchases and other managerial activities required during the absence of VP of Operations; and signs applicable documents requiring notarization.
  • Researches, enters, and scans proposed values into the Voce software system with protest decisions which includes tracking county deadlines
  • Obtains tax rates from all entities and updates the database; and maintains a tracking spreadsheet of initial date information requested, date received, and date entered
  • Obtains missing Bexar County and out-of-county hearing dates from various appraisal districts
  • Reviews Appraisal Board orders and enters the database; creates and sends generic/recommended litigation letters to clients; and performs notary duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
