Scope: Manage customer service, maintain and assist with the financial accounting of the press using a special publishing software called ACUMEN, and manage the office which presently includes three full time staff members, one part time staff member, and eight student workers. Basic Responsibilities Manage customer service Assist with managing the financial operations of the press Manage the office Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manage Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service to the general public, authors, and wholesale customers Manage orders, returns, and inventory corrections in our publishing software program Manage title costs, author advances, royalties (including issuing quarterly and annual royalty statements and payment requests), receiving of book orders within ACUMEN, fulfilling backorders, updating Shopify Assist other staff in preparing for special events Assist with on-campus events as needed (i.e. open houses, dedications, selling books) Assist in managing the financial operations Maintaining and overseeing cost accounting, sales reporting, and author transactions Month-end and year-end reports to the ACU Press Director of Operations and Sales Accounts payable & accounts receivable Overseeing monthly tax charges, keeping up with customers tax exempt letters, and preparing tax totals for ACU Accounts Payable at year end Maintaining book and price lists for all titles Manage the office Hiring and overseeing student workers Buying supplies and equipment for the office Maintaining a calendar of events and any other scheduling as needed Professional Development Requirements: Skills PC proficient Some experience with accounting or bookkeeping is preferred Experience with budgets and spreadsheets (EXCEL) Knowledge of e-mail software Office organization and multi-tasking Knowledge of Mac helpful but not necessary Good knowledge of the web and web research Training Required ACUMEN (financial/accounting software for publishers) ACU’s Workday accounting system Phone and voicemail Qualifications: ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. Candidate needs to be able to handle working from a desk and with a computer screen. Lifting of packages at the warehouse may be needed from time to time. Must be able to lift 30lbs.
