About The Position

This position serves in one of the six Academic Support Units (ASUs) within the College of Arts and Sciences Division of Administrative Services (CASDAS). The Office Generalist serves as the main receptionist for the ASU and works closely with other staff, providing logistical support across Operations and Academic functional areas as directed by the Operations Manager. Duties may include supervising student workers, maintaining a front office, coordinating deliveries, tracking supply and equipment inventories, scheduling conference rooms, coordinating events, providing general communications support, coordinating building maintenance and tech support, and other daily office operational tasks. As the first point of contact for the ASU, the Office Generalist interacts with staff, faculty, students, and members of the public to route inquiries, disseminate information, and address issues. The Office Generalist applies standard operating procedures and unit policies to direct workflows and respond to requests, escalating matters up to the Operations Manager when needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team, providing support where needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 software.
  • Ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to understand and apply policies, procedures, rules, and/or regulations.
  • Ability to problem-solve and exercise sound judgment.
