About The Position

Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties, primarily associated with submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management, as well as construction management support. Supports the project management team (project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, design manager, etc.)across multiple projects, such as the CTA Curbside Improvement Program or T5 initiatives. Requirements

  • Technical/Construction background with experience in an operating/active environment
  • Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins
  • Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout
  • Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parti es involved
  • Contributing to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA/internal stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with Project Management Implementation Systems; ability to work in PM Web preferred.
  • 5 years or more experience, preferably on airport projects
  • Experience with projects more than $50 million in value and experience working on large teams for complex projects.
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or other related technical field required
  • Consultant MUST have a company-provided laptop computer.
  • Cell phone provided by consultant is required
  • This is NOT a work from home position
  • This is a salaried position based on 40 hours per week at the applicable all-in labor rate.
  • This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAX
  • After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. This shall be considered part of the salary

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams (e.g., CTA Curbside Improvement Program, T5 project) in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals.
  • Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into PM Web, and prepare management information status report, as required.
  • Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in PM Web, the project information system.
  • Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies).
  • Work with the Contractor(s) to ensure the drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to Contractor(s).
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
  • Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as: attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc.
