About The Position

Description of Duties Maintain organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs. Oversee and review daily field inspector reports. Track, document and manage project issues and conditions, including the management of the construction Request for Information (RFI) and submittal process. Provide and coordinate technical and administrative information to others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instruction Position Description The Terminal 2 (T2) Office Engineer reports to the T2 Project Manager and is responsible for assisting the T2 Terminal 2 Project Manager with managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for TDIPs Terminal 2 project. Position Description Summary The T2 Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management as well as construction management support. Supports the project management team (project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, design manager, etc.). Key Identifiers for the Position Technical/Construction background with experience in an operating/active environment Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved Contributing to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA/internal stakeholders Essential Job Duties Assist the T2 project team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals. Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into PM Web, and prepare management information status report, as required. Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in PM Web, the project information system. Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies). Work with the Contractor(s) to ensure the drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner. Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to Contractor(s). Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings. Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc. Hardware/Software Knowledge Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Experience with Project Management Implementation Systems; ability to work in PM Web preferred

Requirements

  • Technical/Construction background with experience in an operating/active environment
  • Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins
  • Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout
  • Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
  • Contributing to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA/internal stakeholders

  • Experience with Project Management Implementation Systems; ability to work in PM Web preferred
  • Five years or more experience, preferably on airport projects or environments
  • Experience supporting Multiple Award Task Order Contracts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, airport administration, or other related field
