About The Position

This is an entry-level regulatory position within the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO), where the successful candidate will play a critical role in the regulation of the beverage alcohol industry, contributing to public safety in Maine. The role offers opportunities for career development and advancement within the Bureau and across Maine state government. The position is based in Augusta and allows for partial telework with management approval upon completion of a probationary period, provided all telework is performed within the State of Maine. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions.

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare Excel worksheets and perform data entry
  • Ability to stay current and understand, discuss, explain, and apply applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures, forms, computerized systems, and terminology
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including writing concise reports and composing standard business correspondence
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks
  • Ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures
  • Assumes the qualifications of Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I
  • Some positions may require possession of a valid Class B Maine Motor Vehicle Operator’s License

Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial review of license applications
  • Processing approved applications and entering associated data
  • Tracking, monitoring, and processing liquor license violations and any associated workflow management
  • Corresponding with members of the industry and the public
  • Instructing industry members to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and best practices
