About The Position

As a Licensing Associate at the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO), this entry-level regulatory position is critical to the regulation of the growing beverage alcohol industry in Maine. The role contributes to public safety and offers opportunities for career development and advancement within the Bureau and across Maine state government. The position is located in Augusta with partial telework options available upon completion of a probationary period, subject to management approval, and all telework must be performed within the State of Maine. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions.

Requirements

  • Prepare Excel worksheets and perform data entry
  • Stay current and understand, discuss, explain, and apply applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures, forms, computerized systems, and terminology
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, including writing concise reports and composing standard business correspondence
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks
  • Ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures
  • Assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I

Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial review of license applications
  • Processing approved applications and entering associated data
  • Tracking, monitoring, and processing liquor license violations and any associated workflow management
  • Corresponding with members of the industry and the public
  • Instructing industry members to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and best practices
