About The Position

As Office Assistant, you will serve as the welcoming face of the church, overseeing daily office operations while supporting the Pastor and Board Chair with professionalism and discretion. This role is essential to creating a warm, organized, and efficient environment through excellent communication, administrative support, and confidential recordkeeping. LOCATION : Portland, OR SALARY : $24/hr. Requirements

  • Proven secretarial or administrative experience, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, pleasant, and welcoming demeanor
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities with attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • high school diploma required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the church, welcoming visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries with professionalism and warmth
  • Oversee daily church office operations and provide administrative support to the Pastor and Board of Directors Chairperson
  • Manage communications and records, including phone and email correspondence, voicemail logs, mail processing, and confidential files
  • Coordinate office administration such as calendar management, office supply inventory, and operation and upkeep of office equipment
  • Provide clerical support to church departments by preparing correspondence, meeting notes, bulletins, and electronic communications
