General Summary Under direct supervision performs a variety of clerical functions, supporting the delivery of quality and efficient care in a prompt and courteous manner. Types documents from rough drafts/corrected copies. Perform various general clerical duties as required. Provides general information on the telephone or in-person to patients, visitors and staff, in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Greets and directs visitors within the assigned department or the hospital center. Reads, sorts, distributes and/or files incoming documents, reports, correspondence and other documents in accordance with departmental procedures. Codes, indexes, classifies and files materials is accordance with departmental and The Joint Commission record keeping standards. Removes material, prepares new and removes obsolete files and records. Maintains records of material removed from files. Investigates missing file folders and locates or prepares duplicate folders. Organizes and maintains files, records, logs and other controlling systems. Photocopies, types and sets up bills, purchase orders, application forms, memoranda, statistical tables, letters and reports from rough drafts. Orders supplies for department. Prepares outgoing departmental mail in accordance with departmental procedures. Sort and stamp mail, distributes mail to appropriate personnel.
