About The Position

The intern will be responsible for assisting the Offender Services team which includes the areas of Risk Reduction, Interstate Compact and transfers. The Applicant may assist in facilitating Interstate Compact Meetings, assisting in the duties and setting up details for inmate transports, learning to analyze and process interstate compact applications, learning how to use a nationally based transportation system to transport inmates and how to use organizational skills to make sure the inmate gets appropriately classified once to their destination. The applicant will also have the opportunity to learn how to balance and move inmates from a bird's eye view of the entire state system and manage an entire state population, giving the intern the unique opportunity to gain skills in managing large scale operations and populations. These internships are perfect for students looking for case management experience and anyone particularly interested in criminal justice and law enforcement.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester.
  • Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
  • By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
  • Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation.
  • Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
