About The Position

Light of Life Rescue Mission serves people experiencing homelessness and material needs in Pittsburgh. Our ministry has been a beacon of hope in the Northside since 1952. We seek an Operations Manager for our Off-the-Floor Furniture Bank. This position manages a staff that receives, stores, and delivers goods to clients. The role ultimately helps Light of Life to fulfill its mission and positively impact the community.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Valid PA Driver's license and clean driving record
  • 7-10 years' driving experience
  • Proven experience in operations management, ideally within a nonprofit or social service organization.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with donors, clients, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Furniture delivery experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Oversee the organization's inventory of donated furniture items.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure accurate tracking and efficient utilization of resources.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking efforts as needed.
  • Logistics and Distribution: Manage the logistics and distribution processes, including working directly with client services team at OTF, reviewing work orders, and printing of pickup and delivery routes.
  • Coordinate with drivers and volunteers to ensure timely and safe transport of furniture to clients.
  • Optimize delivery routes and logistics to minimize costs and environmental impact.
  • Warehouse Management: Supervise the delivery team, including training and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse space that prioritizes safety and efficiency.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Client Services (Pickup Coordinator and Delivery Coordinator): Collaborate with the client services team to ensure clients receive the furniture and household items they need in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Develop and implement processes to assess client needs and preferences.
  • Donation Processing: Coordinate the collection and processing of donated furniture, including quality control and repairs if necessary.
  • Ensure all donations are properly cataloged and stored.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on operational performance, including inventory levels, distribution metrics, and resource utilization.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain a fleet of trucks, including the daily monitoring of all trucks, routine maintenance, and scheduling of repairs.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the operational budget, monitoring expenses, and identifying cost-saving measures.
  • Meet or exceed income goals for the Ministry's furniture bank subsidiary.
