About The Position

Light of Life Rescue Mission serves people experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and other material needs in Pittsburgh. Our ministry has been a beacon of hope in the city's Northside for over 70 years. We seek a Project Specialist to establish a growth trajectory for our Off-the-Floor Furniture Bank. Summary of Position The Off-the-Floor Project Specialist collaborates in building a sustainable model for Light of Life's Off-the-Floor furniture bank. This role provides leadership in warehouse operations, donor relations, client services, and inventory management. Additional supervisory functions occur with volunteers, interns from long-term care programs, and community-service participants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, retail management, social services, nonprofit leadership, or another related field.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and proficiency in databases such as project management tools and enterprise systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to drive a box truck.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with addiction recovery programs or trauma-informed care, preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities, beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a business model for the Off-the-Floor Furniture Bank
  • Define and expand the donation and user markets for pre-owned furniture.
  • Determine the financial and operational structures to sustain a profitable enterprise.
  • Refine processes for inventory management and customer service
  • Determine and implement ideal procedures for merchandise intake, storage, display and delivery.
  • Determine and implement ideal procedures for client needs assessment, shopping experience, and receipt of goods.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse that complies with safety standards and internal policies.
  • Manage business and partner agency relationships
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the warehouse service, supply, and capital equipment vendors.
  • Expand and strengthen relationships with community organizations that are pipelines for merchandise donations, volunteers, interns, and clients in need.
  • Represent the ministry at community events that present opportunities to expand services or gain support.
  • Administration
  • Collaborate in the development and monitoring of budgets for warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate schedules for shipping, receiving, and shopping.
  • Walk alongside co-workers and clients as a disciple of Christ and share the Gospel through actions and words.
  • Establish mutual trust and create a safe, authentic environment.
  • Resolve all issues in ways that promote the principles of Light of Life.
  • Exhibit love for Jesus Christ, the staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Practice effective stewardship of all resources.
  • Model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting, and a growth-oriented lifestyle.
