About The Position

The Off-Season Food Service Staff member is responsible for preparing and serving meals for rental groups, retreats, and off-season events at Camp Pepin. While this role does not include menu planning or supply ordering, it may require independently managing meal preparation, serving, and kitchen cleanup. This position plays an important role in ensuring our guests have a positive and welcoming experience during their time at camp, contributing to Camp Pepin’s reputation for hospitality and care.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a kitchen or food service setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals for off-season groups according to a pre-determined menu and schedule.
  • Follow detailed instructions for food preparation and safe handling procedures.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (including convection ovens, steam tables, and dishwashers).
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area, including post-meal cleanup.
  • Follow all state and federal health codes, including maintaining food temperature logs when required.
  • Accommodate basic dietary modifications as indicated by the Camp Director.
  • Work independently during meal service and communicate effectively with supervisors.
  • Demonstrate YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Represent Camp Pepin positively to rental guests, ensuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
