About The Position

The Savannah Convention Center is seeking part-time OFF DUTY POLICE OFFICERS. Officers will manage crowd control during emergency, exigent, or general circumstances warranting police action or intervention. They may be posted in various campus locations to provide general police services and assigned traffic posts to facilitate vehicular and pedestrian traffic during events.

  • Officer must be currently employed and in “Good Standing” with employer.
  • Officer must have jurisdiction in this geographical area.
  • Must have agency approval to work extra job at GWCCA.
  • Officers must possess a current P.O.S.T. Certification and must be in “Good Standing” with P.O.S.T.

Responsibilities

  • Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • Ensure that traffic flows safely in and around their assigned area, intersection, and campus.
  • Monitor and regulate illegal parking.
  • Responsible for impounding vehicles that are illegally parked or abandoned within the direction of the on duty Public Safety Manager.
  • Conduct investigations of criminal activities and taking appropriate action, to include citation or arrest.
  • Respond to reported and witnessed incidents and will be responsible for the completion and submission of required incident reports, by the end of their tour of duty.
  • The officer will conduct a thorough investigation, preserve, and collect evidence relating to the incident.
  • Provide general police services to the public.
  • Perform other police duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the on duty Public Safety Manager.
