About The Position

The Occupational Trainer is responsible for organizing, delivering, tracking, and assessing training programs that equip LPX Team Members with practical skills, safety knowledge, and professional competencies required for success in the construction industry. The trainer ensures all instructional activities align with regulatory standards, company procedures, and industry best practices. The Occupational Trainer will be a champion of the Training Program.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, tools, and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage diverse learners
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize training technologies (virtual classrooms, PowerPoint, Canva, etc.) to create engaging and effective learning solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and recordkeeping skills
  • Problem-solving and adaptability in dynamic site environments
  • Microsoft suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification, required
  • First Aid/CPR certification, required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Education, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in construction or trade work preferred
  • Prior experience in adult education, workforce training, or apprenticeship programs preferred.
  • OSHA 500 and OSHA 510 (train the trainer), preferred
  • ATSSA Technician and Supervisor, preferred
  • KEPSC (or other relevant EPSC), preferred
  • Flagger, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on and classroom-based training in construction-related trades, safety, and occupational skills.
  • Update and maintain training materials, lesson plans, and assessments.
  • Train Team Members in safe work practices in accordance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Evaluate trainee performance through observations, tests, and practical demonstrations.
  • Utilize feedback to adjust and improve training and offerings.
  • Maintain accurate and organized training documentation, including records, certifications, and attendance logs, in compliance with LPX Group standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and project managers (SMEs) to identify training needs and build best in class workshops.
  • Conduct all training in an energetic, professional manner, with high engagement, while maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Stay current with construction methods, technology, and safety standards – updating all associated materials.
  • Administer and participate in annual gap analysis for future workshop planning.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and safety awareness.
