Requirements
State License (SC)
National Boards License (NBCOT)
Must exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
To see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
Physical agility to lift up to 40 pounds
Nice To Haves
Prior experience in pediatric or school-based setting preferred
Responsibilities
Consults with teachers, other appropriate staff, medical personnel, and parents to assess student’s needs and to recommend materials, equipment techniques, accommodations, and modifications for students who qualify
Conducts initial evaluations to determine need for services to meet special education/504 requirements
Develops Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives for occupational therapy to enable students to benefit from their educational programs
Attend IEP/504 committee meetings as needed
Progress monitor goals and objectives
Provide occupational therapy services to eligible students
Maintains daily log documentation of therapy for individual students
Submits Medicaid documentation for reimbursement
Participates in and maintains training required to conduct assistive technology evaluations
Serves as a member of the District assistive technology team and assists with scheduling evaluations, consultation sessions, and committee meetings to review evaluation results
Trains staff in appropriate use of techniques, materials, and equipment for individual students
Attends professionally related activities to maintain current knowledge in the field of occupational therapy and educational services
Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistant as required through licensing rules
