About The Position

To provide occupational therapy services to students with disabilities who are eligible for the services.

Requirements

• State License (SC)
• National Boards License (NBCOT)
• Must exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
• To see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
• Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
• Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
• Physical agility to lift up to 40 pounds

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in pediatric or school-based setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Consults with teachers, other appropriate staff, medical personnel, and parents to assess student’s needs and to recommend materials, equipment techniques, accommodations, and modifications for students who qualify
• Conducts initial evaluations to determine need for services to meet special education/504 requirements
• Develops Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives for occupational therapy to enable students to benefit from their educational programs
• Attend IEP/504 committee meetings as needed
• Progress monitor goals and objectives
• Provide occupational therapy services to eligible students
• Maintains daily log documentation of therapy for individual students
• Submits Medicaid documentation for reimbursement
• Participates in and maintains training required to conduct assistive technology evaluations
• Serves as a member of the District assistive technology team and assists with scheduling evaluations, consultation sessions, and committee meetings to review evaluation results
• Trains staff in appropriate use of techniques, materials, and equipment for individual students
• Attends professionally related activities to maintain current knowledge in the field of occupational therapy and educational services
• Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistant as required through licensing rules
• Supervisor may assign other duties
