Description Position Title: Occupational Therapist Division: Family and Student Support Services Reports To: Coordinator of Exceptional Student Education Services FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Schedule: HC (Doctorate), HC1-1 (Non-Doctorate) Work Days: 190 Essential Duties: Determine the need for skilled occupational therapy intervention by evaluating students using standardized and/or non-standardized assessment tools, based on deficits affecting their ability to access their curriculum and make progress on IEP goals/objectives. Interpret evaluation results to teachers, parents/guardians, and other authorized personnel. Collaborate in development of Individual Educational Program (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan for eligible students. Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with the IEP or 504 Accommodation Plan. Research, recommend, obtain, and train students, staff, and parents/guardians on the use of necessary adaptive equipment and specific physical needs of the student. Provide educational in-service/training to authorized personnel regarding classroom and school-wide intervention strategies/techniques and policies and procedures related to occupational therapy. Develop, maintain, and interpret occupational therapy records and reports, including Medicaid documentation. Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) in accordance with the rules of Georgia State Board of Occupational Therapy. Perform ongoing evaluation of a student's progress to determine continued need for occupational therapy services based on data collection, informal/formal assessments, or changes in medical status. Perform other duties as assigned.
