About The Position

Position Title: Nurse, Exceptional Student Education Division: F&SSS/Exceptional Student Education Reports To: Coordinator, Related Services FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Schedule: HC2-2 or HC2-3 Work Days: 185 Evaluation Tool: SNEI JD Revision Date(s): 9/22 Essential Duties: 1. Mentor school personnel regarding health related issues. 2. Provide services to students with disabilities as needed. 3. Improve health-related instruction through classroom visitation, observation, and demonstration teaching. 4. Exhibit communication skills and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and convey technical medical information to school personnel. 5. Collect information about the health and developmental status of students with disabilities in a systematic and continuous manner. 6. Maintain health records and log health services rendered for students with disabilities. Prepare and submit reports as needed. 7. Collaborate with physicians’ offices to obtain orders and information for health-related procedures to be provided at school. 8. Maintain confidentiality of individual student health status, and participate in IEP meetings as needed. 9. Maintain a comprehensive health plan which meets the existing needs and identifies future needs of students with disabilities. 10. Assist in planning and organizing staff development regarding health-related issues. 11. Provide specialized training and support to school personnel for necessary health-related procedures in order to allow special education students access to the learning environment. 12. Act as a liaison between parents, physicians, and the school. 13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by appropriate administrator. Qualifications: 1. Maintain current LPN or RN licensure in the State of Georgia. 2. Maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification. 3. Minimum of three years nursing experience, preferred. 4. A proven record of establishing rapport and working well with professional personnel at all levels of public education; students and parents as well as with related professional organizations. 5. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation. 6. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. 7. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. 8. Ability to be present at the physical worksite. 9. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. 10. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. 11. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations. 12. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Requirements
