About The Position

Prototypes is one of the nation's leading behavioral healthcare providers and is a "prototype" for such organizations. Our Outpatient Behavioral Health Center in Pasadena provides comprehensive mental health and substance use services for people aged birth through older adulthood. Adult services range from prevention and early intervention to intensive services for those with more serious or chronic conditions. Staff provide services at the Clinic and within the community. These can include individual, group, and family therapy, as well as psychiatric treatment, medication management and medication-assisted therapies, case management, and coordination with primary care providers. The Occupational Therapist provides direct care to clients and aids in the supervision of graduate-level interns. They demonstrate proficiency in teamwork and excel in managing time and documentation. They use different therapeutic interventions and modalities to address the needs of children, adults, and families within Prototypes Pasadena program. They provide services in an outpatient setting, residential treatment facilities, or in community-based environments, depending on client requirements and program specifications.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.
  • Pass the national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Possess a valid state license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
  • At least two years of relevant experience; experience in an outpatient and/or rehabilitation setting(s) preferred.
  • At least two years' experience treating clients with co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Experience working with clients experiencing chronic behavioral health issues, as well as experience working with children/families preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group occupational therapy (OT) to clients.
  • Assess areas of need and develop individualized treatment plans for clients.
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of treatment plans and client progress.
  • Provide clinical crisis assistance within scope of practice.
  • Participate in milieu activities of assigned programs.
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and field instruction to OT fieldwork students.
  • Support the maintenance of an OT referral list and waiting list.
  • Provide outreach services to individuals in the community.
  • Transport clients as needed.
  • Provide case management and rehabilitative services to parents/caregivers.
  • Interface and collaborate with stakeholders in clients' treatment.
  • Work closely with medication services providers, therapists, case managers, and other team members.
  • Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including therapists, counselors, medical providers, and psychiatrists.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with agency, program, and regulatory standards.
  • Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery.
  • Ensure clinical documentation in client records meets professional standards.
  • Write client progress letters and court reports.
  • Complete all assigned peer reviews (chart audits) in a timely manner.
  • Meet expected client care hours per week.
  • Maintain full compliance with the certifying body.
  • Attend and actively participate in Clinical Group Supervision.
  • Participate in training opportunities and pursue certifications in evidence-based practices.
  • Support the training of OT interns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
