Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • NBCOT certification, or eligible and registered for next examination.
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Hand Therapy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Administers occupational therapy evaluations and develops treatment plan for patients with hand/upper extremity injuries or dysfunction, including infants and children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and frail elderly, inpatient and outpatient.
  • Provides individual treatment to remediate, restore and/or compensate for sensorimotor, neuromuscular, or musculoskeletal dysfunction.
  • Fabricates static and dynamic splints, utilizes physical agent modalities as per licensure and training.
  • Facilitates return to activities of daily living through the provision of adaptive devices, education in compensatory techniques and use of goal directed activities.
  • Educates patient in injury prevention and health promotion techniques.
