Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- NBCOT certification, or eligible and registered for next examination.
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Hand Therapy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Responsibilities
- Administers occupational therapy evaluations and develops treatment plan for patients with hand/upper extremity injuries or dysfunction, including infants and children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and frail elderly, inpatient and outpatient.
- Provides individual treatment to remediate, restore and/or compensate for sensorimotor, neuromuscular, or musculoskeletal dysfunction.
- Fabricates static and dynamic splints, utilizes physical agent modalities as per licensure and training.
- Facilitates return to activities of daily living through the provision of adaptive devices, education in compensatory techniques and use of goal directed activities.
- Educates patient in injury prevention and health promotion techniques.
