About The Position

NovaCare Rehabilitation in Bowie, MD, is seeking a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our dynamic outpatient team. This is a great opportunity for a therapist who enjoys working with upper extremity (UE) cases and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care. We are ideally looking for a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or an OT with at least three years of experience in upper extremity rehabilitation. However, we are also open to considering new graduates who have completed Level II fieldwork in hand therapy and demonstrate strong clinical potential.

Position Highlights:
Primary caseload: Upper extremity and hand therapy, including shoulder conditions and select neurodiagnoses.
Team environment: You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of Physical Therapists (PTs) and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs).
Solo OT role: You’ll be the only OT onsite, supported by a local network of experienced hand therapists.
Flexible caseload: We tailor your caseload based on your experience, skillset, and professional goals.
Schedule: Full-time begins at 32 hours/week, with a preference for a 40-hour schedule. No weekends required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school for occupational therapy
• State Occupational Therapist license (or license eligible)
• CPR certification
• Valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Stay current and up to date with Occupational Therapy research and employ Evidence Based Practice (RCB, clinician expertise, patient perception).
• Enhance, develop and expand relationships with referral sources and maintain a positive level of interaction with centers and patients.
• Develop objective patient goals and establish the type, frequency and duration of occupational therapy in collaboration with the referring physician.
• Understand appropriate state Practice Act and adhere to the laws that govern how OTs may practice and whom they may supervise.
• Participate in the design and implementation of new programs or procedures with the approval of the manager and referring physicians per HIPPA guidelines.
• Supervise and delegate occupational therapy care for each patient within the guidelines of state rules and federal regulations.
• Provide comprehensive and individualized treatment programs and demonstrate completion of patient care responsibilities and documentation requirements in an appropriate and timely manner.
