The primary purpose of the Environmental Health, Safety, and Emergency Management Office is to develop and manage comprehensive environmental health, safety, and emergency management programs for the University. The primary role of the Occupational Safety Manager is to provide comprehensive workplace safety programs and oversight in support of the University’s mission. This includes conducting building inspections, job hazard analyses, and accident investigations; providing safety training; evaluating and updating safety policies and programs; maintaining applicable records; and serving as primary liaison to university safety committees and external occupational safety agencies. The Occupational Safety Manager works with individuals across all areas of the University to ensure safe working and learning environments. This position also supervises the Safety Coordinator.
