Job Summary : A School-Based occupational therapist (OT) is involved in evaluating students' functional abilities in the areas of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing skills, mobility, assistive technology use, and daily living skills to participate and succeed in their educational environment. An occupational therapist will develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) and treatment plans to meet annual motor related goals. OTs implement interventions to support their participation in school related activities and collaborate with educational staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support and accommodations. A School-Based physical therapist (PT) is involved in evaluating students' functional abilities in the areas of mobility and gait training, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing skills, assistive technology use, and daily living skills to participate and succeed in their educational environment. A physical therapist will develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) and treatment plans to meet annual motor related goals. PTs implement interventions to support their participation in school related activities and collaborate with educational staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support and accommodations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree along with the completion of a teacher's preparation program and endorsement skills examinations.
  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate with the Occupational Therapist endorsement or Physical Therapist endorsement.
  • Candidates who are new to the profession or moving from out of state, may apply if anticipated to obtain certification prior to the position start date or first day of school.
