About The Position

The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) supports the health and safety of employees here at HL-GA Battery Company, which is a high-volume EV battery manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for providing occupational health services, conducting injury/illness management, coordinating compliance programs, and supporting overall wellness initiatives. The OHN works closely with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), HR, and leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a safe and healthy workplace.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license, Georgia required.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required.
  • 3+ years of nursing experience, with at least 1–2 years in occupational health, industrial, or emergency nursing preferred.
  • Experience supporting OSHA-regulated health surveillance programs strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, HIPAA, and workers’ compensation regulations.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and providing care for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle medical equipment and supplies as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN or COHN-S) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Occupational Health, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments or similar high-hazard workplaces a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to employees for workplace injuries, illnesses, and emergencies.
  • Administer first aid and coordinate medical referrals as needed.
  • Maintain employee health records in compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and company policy.
  • Conduct post-offer and periodic health assessments, including hearing conservation, respiratory clearance, and vision screenings.
  • Coordinate and support regulatory health surveillance programs (e.g., HAZWOPER, respirator clearance, toxic exposure monitoring).
  • Support workers’ compensation case management, including documentation, follow-up care, and communication with providers.
  • Partner with EHS to identify workplace hazards and provide health-related input into risk mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver employee education and training on topics such as ergonomics, personal protective equipment, emergency response, and general wellness.
  • Develop and implement health promotion and wellness initiatives to improve employee well-being.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, HR, and external healthcare providers.
  • Participate in incident investigations, audits, and compliance reviews as needed.
  • Ensure clinic supplies, medical equipment, and records are properly maintained.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the company’s occupational health and safety objectives.
